Amateur Football Combination

AFC and The FA Charter Standard

Picture
The Amateur Football Combination wants to become a league competition holding The FA's Charter Standard for Leagues. We want to do this because we believe that the Charter Standard will become increasingly important in recruitment of new Clubs and Players who want to play our kind of football. It will ensure that the league continues to develop and thrive and help us to maintain the standards of sportsmanship, fair play and hospitality for which the AFC is known.

A key factor in enabling us to gain the Charter Standard for Leagues is the number of AFC Clubs which hold The FA's Charter Standard for Clubs. At present fewer than 20% of our Clubs hold the Charter Standard. To move to a position where we can think about applying for League Charter Standard status we must achieve a far greater proportion of Charter Standard Clubs in membership with the aim of eventually achieving 100%.
Clubs that are successful in achieving the Charter will get access to a range of benefits including:
  • Use of Charter Standard Crest
  • Exclusive Workshops
  • Nike Kit and Equipment Vouchers / Grants
  • National and Regional Awards
  • Access to FA McDonald's coaching awards
  • Starter Pack, including posters, Codes of Conduct, Certificates
  • One free CRB / Enhanced CRB check and three free places (one on each workshop) for Safeguarding, Welfare Officer and Equality workshops
  • Access to free tickets for England women’s and youth internationals
  • Enter into draws for prizes including England tickets

Your club probably meets most of the criteria

We believe that many of our Clubs would already be able to achieve most of the criteria required for them to be awarded Charter Standard status. The Charter Standard scheme is very well supported by The FA and the AFA and their websites include an excellent resource of templates for club constitutions and codes of conduct etc. which you would be able to adapt very easily for your Club to use in its application.

Get help with emergency aid courses

One item which many Clubs will not be able to satisfy for now is the requirement to have two trained Emergency Aiders for each team (though note an “equivalent qualification” is equally valid – a First Aid qualification endorsed by the Health & Safety Executive – e.g. First Aid at Work, St Johns etc). The AFA can help you organise Emergency Aid training and the AFC will meet £100 of the costs of the course for Clubs applying for Charter Standard or those renewing their mark.
